Michelle Cashatt...a Splash of Color
Hi! My name is Michelle Cashatt and I finally decided I should do what I was born to and become what I always was, an artist. The journey has been something else ever since I decided to take this seriously! If it were not for the fact that I love art and I also love creating it, there is no way I would suggest anyone make this their career choice! I am really joking, I seriously enjoy what I do...making the two dimensional come to life. For many years, I only worked with graphite but last year for my birthday, my wonderful art patron (actually, he is my husband) gave me pastel pencils and opened my whole WORLD up! It has managed to teach me so much more as an artist and bridged the gap between pencil and paint, something I had been struggling with for many years. I have embarked on this artistic journey and would love for you to join me in this epic saga!
Here are the most recent happenings...
This website is pretty new, so if you would like to get some history on my journey up to this point, a good place to start is my Facebook fan page that I have had for two years now, we are at over 600 fans and I love every...single...one of you! You probably saw that annoying popup asking for your email address on the Home page but just in case you missed it, I like to give away free art from time to time. (If it wasn't for my addiction to art supplies, I would probably give it all away for free! My husband says I have a problem but I have no idea what he is talking about) Okay! Back to the drawings...once a month, I take all of the people who have signed up for the email subscription here and also from my Facebook friends and fans who share just one thing to their friends about my art and tag me in it so I know to put them in the hat and pick one lucky person. The next winner could be you and if you win, you can pick a free art print from one of the choices available on my Fine Art America website. The drawing is held on the 20th of each month and the winner is announced on my Facebook fan page. December, the lucky winner was Lori K. and she is a 2 time winner! Congratulations, Lori on your choice of 'Light vs. Dark'! When you sign up for the email, it guarantees you will have an entry every month! If you want more chances in that month, just share my art and tag me on Facebook! Plus, I usually post updates of my latest artworks on Facebook first as well as works in progress and other silliness so if you want to watch more details of the journey, that is the place to go! The link is down at the bottom of the page, if you want to take a peek.
I couldn't keep making art without art supplies so I suppose you might want to know what else I do besides give away free art. Well, Christmas is behind us but maybe you have no idea what to get that special someone for a birthday or special occasion gift . Commissions are on a first come, first serve basis and begin once the non-refundable deposit of 1/2 down is made. I want to help you be able to give 'the' gift that shows how much you care and I know how hard those are to find. If for some reason, I am booked solid, please be patient with the backlog. These are hand-made creations and require a great deal of energy and time to bring forth. I will make every effort to help you if I can and on the rare occasion I cannot, I am also able to offer gift vouchers and I do know some other very capable artists to whom I can refer you who may be able to fulfill your needs before your deadline.
Maybe you want to learn how to create your own artwork. It just so happens that I also teach drawing and painting classes. I know, you are saying to yourself...'I can't even draw a stick figure!' Seriously though, if you can hold a pencil, I promise you that you can learn to draw. Maybe it isn't your thing, but your child is really showing some potential and you want to cultivate that more than what is being offered in the school curriculum. Contrary to popular belief, there has never been a better time to become an artist and it is best to start them out young! Doesn't matter your age though, it is never too late. Studies have been done confirming that creating art does great things for your overall well being and has even been used as a form of therapy!
Right now, I have live classes located here in Bellevue, NE on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. I also am in the planning stages setting up a recurring paint class once a month at the Cabin on maybe a Wednesday evening, probably monthly. Still working out the details so I will keep you all informed when I know more. Soon, I will be offering videos on my Facebook page and shortly after, I will have a YouTube Patreon channel. These are all works in progress so bear with me while I get all these things up and running. I can't say that I am too excited with my webcam just yet. Technology is not exactly one of my strengths.
Last thing I wanted to mention is sometimes you love a piece of art, but there is NO WAY you can afford the original. I can understand your pain, I have a budget myself. However, not all is lost! I have a couple more options. One is we can work out a layaway plan where you can put down a percentage of the total amount and make payments while your masterpiece is safely tucked away, waiting for you to take it to its forever home. The other option is you can purchase a limited selection of my artworks you find here in print from my Fine Art America page where you can even see hundreds of different combinations through their custom framing option. Not only do they have everything from my artwork printed on metal & canvas prints, they also offer phone cases and coffee mugs, among other things! I am fortunate to have found a local printer who is able to meet my needs as an artist as well. If it isn't posted on Fine Art America, please contact me for details. I am just now starting a series and those pieces will only be available in limited edition and won't be offered on Fine Art America so what you see on that site is all that will be offered through them indefinitely.
So I think I covered everything. Wait! One more thing...if you have your heart set on the original, please contact me to ask if it is available. (Not all of the ones I have on Fine Art America are listed for sale even though I still have some of them. Shhh! Secretly, I keep many of them hanging in my studio because I really love them!) Even if your favorite is already sold, it can be either be printed and remarqued or recreated. While it won't be exactly the same as the original, it will be really, REALLY close.
Thanks so much for stopping by, even if it was just to 'windows' shop. (See what I did there?) Hope you enjoyed looking and feel free to come back anytime!
